Joy, Jokes and Jest

Like every year, the museum education team of the Museum of Military History has thought out something special for its young visitors (6 to 14 years).

Come and join when wild ghosts are haunting the museum, when you are allowed to ride on real horses, when a lost treasure is discovered or when knights and damsels are taking command.

Holiday games at the Museum of Military History - Preserve the peace and design the future

Having been a member of the U.N. for fifty-five years now, Austria has not merely been watching but also achieved many a thing. The children toe the line of Austrian Blue Berets, learning what it means to keep the peace and design the future. At the example of a medics’ tent they see how wounded and sick persons are treated and how people struck by disaster can be helped.  A water purification plant helps making water drinkable again. As a sign of constructive cooperation between the U.N. and Austria, a symbolic village will be crafted by the children themselves at the centre of the museum. For those who want to craft a Blue Beret by themselves this is also the place to be.

The long night of museums – the secret treasure of the Ottomans

Daring children, who exceptionally may stay up long, can set off searching for the secret treasure of the Ottomans. Diligence at crafting and a good instinct are required to take home the prize.

The chase of phantom knights at the Museum of Military History

In time for Halloween, some haunting is going on behind the venerable walls of the spooky museum. Eery phantom knights provide for gruesome incidents, and old, spine-chilling legends come true when the ghosts are walking abroad. Nothing for sensitive nerves!

Advent market at the Museum of Military History

Contemplative pre-Christmas season, fun with crafting, St. Nicholas and Krampus, presents and much more await our youngest visitors at a somewhat different Christmas market.

Christmas magic – crafting carrousel

Contemplative Christmas crafting stations in a historic atmosphere are on offer. Genuine beeswax candles, yummy gingerbread houses, and traditional Christmas decoration can be crafted before the handing out of presents and taken home.
